Q:
‘As far as the heater hose goes, the larger one that goes through the bulkhead, where was that situated and how large was the hole?  The person who had this Mini before me removed the heater and welded a plate in and primed over it and I cannot tell where it was.’
A:
‘The hole required for the hose to pass through needs to be 3 3/4”  in diameter.  It should be to the extreme RH side of the bulkhead, just above the top of the crossmember.’
Q:
‘I need to replace my front tyres, but the locking wheel nut remover does not appear to be with the car, so we cannot remove the wheels without ruining the nuts.  Do you stock these?’
A:
‘We need some information from you before we know for sure whether we can help.  We need to know the manufacture of the locking wheel nuts (Trilocks; genuine Rover etc).  With each set, there is a piece of paper with an identification number on and we need that.

If you can’t supply this, you will need to cut off the locking wheel nuts and buy a new set which we stock!’

Q:
‘When I fit a new rear dry subframe, can I re-use the old bushes and mounts, or should I buy a new fitting kit?  Also can you buy galvanised subframes?’
A:
‘It is advisable to replace the bushes, but quite often people re-use their old mounts.  Without knowing the condition of your old mounts it is difficult to advise you on this.  If you decide to change these as well, it is more cost effective to buy a Heritage fitting kit which contains all you need to mount the subframe (except trunion, re-use your old ones).

Unfortunately galvanised subframes are not available, although we have heard of people who have had new ones done.’
Q:
‘I was wondering if you could get 12” genuine Rover wheels?’
A:
‘In principle yes you can get them, however there are several different ones some of which are available, some are not.  Please either e-mail across a photo of one of yours, or if it a Rover wheel fitted at the factory, please let us know the year & model of your Mini and we’ll find out for you.’
Q:
‘Do you have a rear windscreen rubber for a pickup.’
A:
‘Rear windscreen rubbers for a pickup are NLA, so you have to use a rear saloon one, cut it down to size and glue the ends.  This also applies to MK1 saloon rear rubbers.’
Q:
‘I own a 1985 Mini Ritz.  The car has previously had some work done by yourselves.  I want to sell it, but not being mechanically minded, I would like to sell it knowing it is road worthy and safe.  Can you confirm if you still do this and if so the cost.’
A:
‘Yes we offer a Ramp Inspection which costs £75 incl. VAT.  It is an in-depth check of the Mini, more thorough than an MOT.  It will highlight any problems as well as identify any advisory points.

If you are interested in booking in your Mini, or would like to discuss this in more detail, please ring us.’
